Couple Therapy
I have over 10 years of expertise providing couple therapy, including teaching, supervising, and publishing research on romantic relationships. I was also featured for an American Psychological Association instructional video on couples experiencing commitment uncertainty.
While couples are often apprehensive to begin the counseling process, couples often report that engaging in therapy was one of the best decisions they made for their relationship. My goal is for therapy to feel healing, rewarding, and bonding, as opposed to feeling shaming and accusatory. My approach utilizes emotion focused therapy to highlight each partner's emotional needs, and psychodynamic (insight focused) therapy so both partners can explore the origins of their communication styles and ways of coping.
I'm trained in the Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 Method, have been featured in Marriage.com, and am published in the Encyclopedia of Family and Couple Therapy.
Speciality areas include:
-Communication challenges
-Feeling emotionally disconnected
-Relationship transitions (engagement, marriage, children)
-Premarital counseling
-Cultural differences
-Conflict resolution
-Uncertainty committing to the relationship
-Infidelity
-Preventative care
-Parenting differences
